Varun Chakravarthy has further entrenched his position at the top of the ICC men’s T20I bowling rankings, while Tilak Varma has surged two places to No. 4 among batters following the first three matches of India’s ongoing T20I series against South Africa. Abhishek Sharma, despite modest returns, remains at the summit of the batting standings.
Chakravarthy has been India’s standout performer with the ball, collecting six wickets at an average of 9.83 and an economy rate of just 5.36 across the series. Tilak’s rise has been driven by two contrasting but influential contributions: a fighting 62 from 34 balls in the second T20I, when no other batter passed 30, followed by a measured unbeaten 26 off 34 that steered India home in a low chase in the third match.
Among South African batters, Quinton de Kock made notable ground after his 90 in the second T20I, climbing 14 places to 53rd. Aiden Markram also moved upward, rising eight spots to 29th after his 69 in the third game, despite South Africa being bowled out for 117.
There were gains among the bowlers too. Arshdeep Singh, player of the match for his economical 2 for 13 in Dharamshala, advanced four places to 16th. Marco Jansen surged 14 spots to 25th, while Lungi Ngidi climbed 11 places to 44th.
Elsewhere, several New Zealand players enjoyed ranking boosts in the Test charts. Devon Conway’s scores of 60 and 28 in the second Test against West Indies lifted him seven places to 34th among batters. Debutant Mitchell Hay entered the rankings in joint-78th after a maiden 61, the highest score of the match.
Jacob Duffy also reached a career high, jumping 15 places to 48th in the Test bowling rankings after claiming 5 for 38 in the second innings.
